Description
Liverpool markets have a glorious history and as such have acquired a folklore in the City that harks back to a golden and different age. Over the last twenty years shopping habits have changed, and this coupled with the devastating impact of Covid on retail and its potential long-term ramifications, means it is timely to look at a new model and future for our markets.\r
\r
Liverpool's current market offer is eclectic, from farmers markets to Great Homer Street (Greatie), from occasional event style destination markets to St Johns. The offer needs consolidating to create a compelling and practical vision that is worthy of a Global City and is more than the sum of its parts.\r
\r
Post Covid there is the opportunity to be brave, considered and ambitious to support a brilliant market offer in the city, that plays to the heritage but is absolutely about the future.\r
\r
We are looking for an experienced creative and forward-looking consultant who can assess our current offer across all markets, which consists of:-\r
\r
• St. Johns Market\r
• Garston\r
• Great Homer Street\r
• Liverpool Food Hub\r
• Monument Place\r
• Tuebrook Car Boot and Retail Market\r
• Specialist Markets Events\r
\r
• Research similar international models, the learning of which can be brought to bear on our ambition\r
• Create a new ambitious model for markets with clear achievable recommendations for individual sites and genres\r
• Develop a workable, practical and achievable plan for sites that may no longer be viable that fits the overall model\r
• Develop a costed action plan to support investment decisions\r
• Develop a public consultation to ensure we hear directly from our citizens and their ideas and aspirations are taken into account\r
• Support a citizens panel who will guide the process made up of stakeholders and experts\r
• Ensure the model and approach fits with our inclusive City Plan
