Description
The BFI is seeking consultancy advice to work with us on a prospective new retail development at BFI Southbank. BFI Southbank is located on the South Bank of London within the densest cultural quarter in the world. This area achieves a footfall of c25 million per annum.
BFI Southbank itself welcomes 1.5 million visitors annually. It has 4 screens, a thriving F&B offer, a Mediatheque, library and existing retail. Our current retail offer at BFI Southbank focuses on DVDs, Blu Rays and books reflecting the wide range of world cinema.
The next phase of retail development at BFI Southbank will see the creation of a completely new retail offer that can take advantage of the very substantial footfall on the riverside frontage of the site. Working closely with our Commercial Team and current retail staff, you will develop options and a business case for a new retail concept that drives footfall and customer spend, enhances the BFI experience and complements and extends our existing offer. Optimum merchandise lay out will be a key requirement to inform the design of the new retail space.
The new retail space will be located within the existing Riverfront cafe. This entire area of the building is being redesigned to accommodate the new retail whilst at the same time increasing F&B covers by extending the food and beverage offer to above the existing cafe. This reconfiguration will be undertaken via a RIBA design competition and the business case needs to be completed by the end of April to feed into the design brief for the competition.
Interested parties must be able to demonstrate experience in this area, must provide details and experience of the resources that would be allocated to this commission and be able to complete the initial business case within the requisite time frame.
