Description
Request for Information - Patient Transport Booking Service
North of England Commissioning Support (NECS) working for and on behalf of NHS Newcastle Gateshead, NHS North Tyneside, NHS South Tyneside, and NHS Sunderland Clinical Commissioning Groups (the CCGs), propose to engage with the wider market to inform future service model development and/or commissioning intentions for the provision of a Patient Transport Booking Service for the population of the CCG areas.
The broad objectives of the service are as follows:
•To provide a Patient Transport Booking Service between the hours of 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
•To ensure that a high quality and efficient Patient Transport Booking Service is provided to patients from Newcastle Gateshead, North Tyneside, South Tyneside and Sunderland CCG areas.
•To provide an 0333 or 0191 booking number and answer calls in a timely manner.
•To ensure that eligibility criteria to NHS funded transport to and from non-urgent hospital appointments are consistently and equitably applied.
•To support patients qualifying for NHS funded transport to book transport to and from their appointments.
•To provide advice on alternative methods of transport to patients not eligible for NHS funded transport.
•To record all relevant patient information accurately and in sufficient detail to enable the transport provider to arrange appropriate transport.
•To serve as a link between patients and the provider of transport to book, rearrange and cancel transport where necessary, to ensure that limited resources are used as efficiently as possible.
•To resolve patients' general enquiries.
