Description

Developing an Ageing in Place Academy to support the skills, knowledge and competencies of all those engaged in our ageing in place delivery is a key outcome of the Pathfinder. This supports our key objective to learn and create a system shift to sustain and scale delivery of a neighbourhood approach to ageing well. To date the Academy is focused on delivering learning, knowledge and skills sessions with our Pathfinder Leads and other key staff and is coordinated and delivered by GMCA, this activity will continue.

Our activities and learning in year 1 identified the need for a further learning and capacity building programme to consciously and collectively support the development of the relationships and partnerships between residents and stakeholders in the neighbourhoods. This will form part of the Academy offer and support the development of successful and sustainable neighbourhood partnerships that empower the civic and social participation of over 50s residents in the places they live.

The programme will be delivered in 2 phases. Delivery of a programme with the existing 10 partnerships in Phase 1 will be considered also as a prototype and testing exercise. The outcomes and outputs will be reviewed with all stakeholders and used in Phase 2 to support the co-design and production of additional resource(s) that support capacity and skills building for future local ageing in place partnerships. This will form part of the legacy work of the Pathfinder, in particular the longer-term establishment and delivery of an Ageing in Place Academy. This outcome is a key output to support our roadmap to sustain and scale from the Pathfinder across Greater Manchester.
We recognise that there is a wide range of expertise and a number of existing offers and suppliers that could form part of the delivery of this programme. We would like to receive a bid from a Lead Supplier working in collaboration with a range of other suppliers (as sub-contractors).
