Description

1901 NICOR Consultancy Support for NHS Arden & GEM CSU

The previous contract expires on 31 March 2025 and the service is being put out to tender. AGEM is seeking a partner organisation to provide consultancy and support services relating to the co-production of the National Cardiac Audit Programme (NCAP) annual reports for the 2024/25 data, which are expected to be published in December 2025.

The aim of the programme is to highlight variations in practice and/or outcomes, to stimulate improvement in the quality and outcomes of patient care by providing benchmarked reporting against national and international guidance and standards (e.g. those published by NICE, and those from other established professional and patient sources). The programme's key achievements have been based on clinical expertise around what is needed to improve care, the data needed and the development of a culture of buy-in and comprehensive data collection in the cardiovascular community. Together with patient and carer representatives, there is a shared understanding of what good care looks like.

The overarching aim of the NCAP is the collection, analysis and effective reporting of comparative data on the quality of care delivered to patients treated within cardiac services. The programme at its core is a mechanism to drive improvement within the NHS for the benefit of patients and those working to deliver care. An essential component is identifying where clinical practice or processes can be improved.

A key dependency is the provision of timely, high-quality data that compares providers of healthcare, and delivers outputs at Integrated Care Board/Health Board, cardiac network, trust/hospital, multidisciplinary healthcare teams and individual healthcare professional level.
