Description

Invitation to tender for the provision of External Audit Services for the Architects Registration Board.

The Architects Registration Board is the UK's statutory regulator of architects, set up by an Act of Parliament in 1997. We are an independent, public interest body, and our work in regulating architects ensures that good standards within the profession are consistently maintained for the benefit of the public and architects alike.

We are a small organisation with 23 members of staff and an annual turnover of approximately £4.6m. Our work is overseen by a Board of 15 members, comprising a mix of architects elected by the profession and members of the public appointed by the Privy Council.

We are tendering for the appointment of external auditors to the Board. Experience of the not-for-profit sector and in the field of regulation would be preferable and we would also expect the successful applicant to have experience of producing accounts in accordance with the Government's Financial Reporting Manual (FReM).

As well as undertaking an annual audit of ARB's accounts, we have a small Staff Benevolent Fund that would also be subject to external audit. In addition, the Board may occasionally ask its external auditors for ad-hoc advice on matters of a financial nature, for example, on ARB's tax position.
