Description

The Authority requires a solution that allows use by staff of North Yorkshire County Council, the City of York and North Yorkshire Police. Further information is contained within Section 2: The Specification.

There are three Coroners areas and 2 Senior Coroners in post (as of April 2019). North Yorkshire has approximately 1600 cases per year and City Of York has 600 cases per year. One Senior Coroner covers both North Yorkshire (East) and North Yorkshire (West) but as separate jurisdictions. It is highly possible that in 2020, these 3 areas will merge into one. North Yorkshire County Council will be the lead authority for the new merged area.

The system will therefore be built to eventually support one Coroners area rather than the existing three areas, but will need to be able to report as three areas up to the date of amalgamation.

There are currently 14 users. This includes the coroner's officers who are employed by North Yorkshire Police.
