Description
The Severn Estuary is a European Marine Site (EMS), designated as a Special Area of Conservation (SAC), Special Protection Area (SPA), and Ramsar site, underpinned by the Upper Severn Estuary SSSI, Severn Estuary SSSI and Bridgwater Bay SSSI.
This project follows on from Phases 1-4 which covered the coast of the Severn Estuary in Somerset, North Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Gloucestershire. The aim of this project is to provide evidence of the location and nature of wintering waterbird roosts, the bird assemblages associated with these roosts and the relative size and importance of the roost sites to key species on functionally linked land in Gloucestershire and Worcestershire (Severn & Avon Vale).
