Description

The Department of Health defines Non-emergency Health Care Transport Service (NUHCTS) activity as being typified by the non-urgent, planned transportation of patients, with a medical need for transport, to and from a premises providing NHS healthcare and between NHS healthcare providers. The overarching principle of NUHCTS is that patients who are eligible for transport will receive safe, timely and comfortable transport, without detriment to their medical condition. The current guidance underpinning this service specification is that issued by the Department of Health in 2007. In the event of changes to National Policy Guidance, General Condition 13 in the NHS Standar A high quality, flexible and adaptable service that can meet, grow and respond to the changing needs of the healthcare environment. To provide a safe environment with suitable trained staff for patients to travel to their destination. An effective timely Health Care Transport Service that meets the quality levels outlined in Schedule 4 Quality Requirements. Patients will arrive and depart safely, and in a timely manner. Patients will be collected promptly, within key performance indicators (KPIs) timescales. A service that is patient centric, treating patients with courtesy, dignity and respect at all times. The service provider shall demonstrate a commitment to reduce carbon emissions and the carbon footprint of service users journeys where possible.
