Description

City College Plymouth is currently constructing a state of the art centre of excellence for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths also known as "STEM". Details of the scheme including floor plans can be viewed on the College website www.cityplym.ac.uk/stem-coe.

The building is due to open in September 2017 and is facilitating the closure of the College's Goschen Centre.

Within the new building several computer hubs will be created. Within these large spaces a number of central islands will be set up. To achieve the power and data cabling required to enable this, the majority of the desks will be hard-wired; making use of sockets on modesty panels and cable management attached to the desks. The computer desks must therefore be delivered and installed before final completion of the building.

The College is looking to purchase approximately 256 computer desks. The anticipated value of the supply contract will exceed £25,000. Therefore, as per the Public contracts Regulations 2015 the opportunity will be advertised on the government portal 'Contracts Finder'.

Edit 04.01.2017@ 15:50 - Clarification Questions
1. Is height adjustability essential for all desks?

a. Yes, all desks must be height adjustable.

2. Could you please clarify that the desks to be considered have to comply with the following:

• 4 legged
• Round legs
• 200 mm adjustment
• Twist action adjustment

a. All desks must have four legs and have the height adjustability of 200mm

It is preferable that the legs are round and that the adjustability comes from a twist mechanism, however if you wish to offer an alternative you may do so; please clearly indicate this on the pricing schedule and within your written document.

Please be advised that should your bid be successful, a sample would be required. If the alternative solution is not felt to meet the College's requirements they may chose not to award.

Edit Date 17 January 2017

It has come to the College's attention that potential bidders may have assumed that the College are looking for similar furniture for the new STEM building as that in other buildings. Please note that the College is looking for the best economically advantageous tender and will not be considering style alone in its decision making.

As such the deadline has been extended to Friday 20 January 2017 at 12 mid-day.
