Description
It is the Boards intension to award this contract to a single Contractor and it is envisaged that the successful Tenderer will co-ordinate the running of project works at Neist Point Lighthouse, consisting of the following project elements:
Scope:
•Replacement of Optic, Battery and Control Technologies;
•Repair to handrail along the access path.
•External and Internal redecoration of Lighthouse Tower.
•Make safe surrounding buildings and remove debris.
Neist Point Lighthouse is situated on the most north westerly point of Skye. Primary access to the lighthouse is by road through the peninsula of Duirinish. From Dunvegan the road leads through the small towns of Glendale, Ferrinquarrie, and Milovaig. The lighthouse is reached by a half-mile footpath leading from the end of Glendale to Waterstein Road.
Materials will be taken to site for renovation / upgrade works by ship and helicopter, and removed upon completion of the works, contractors must ensure materials are packaged correctly for Helicopter operations when supplied to Oban Depot and at the site removal stage. The contractor must adhere to the NLB ship & Helicopter timetable. All personnel will be transported and access the site by land
A site visit will be conducted on Thursday 15 June 2017 for this project. Please note access to the site is by boat, sea conditions and other factors may dictate that the date of the site visit may change at short notice. The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
