Description
Wigan Council is undertaking an early market engagement exercise prior to tendering for services to haul and treat the paper and card waste collected at the kerbside from Wigan's households. Approximately 11,000 tonnes of paper and card waste is collected by Wigan per annum (equivalent to around 50 tonnes per day). The Service Provider will be required to arrange haulage of the waste on a daily basis, and subsequently deliver the waste to its treatment facility, where it will be sorted into marketable products that will meet the necessary standards of the paper and card industry. The contract also involves other aspects including contract management, reporting, contingency facilities, transitional arrangements and social value. It is intended to tender for a contract with an initial term of two years, with an option to extend for two further periods of one year. The early engagement consultation is being undertaken on the procurement portal 'The Chest', and all responses should be submitted via 'The Chest'.
