Description

Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council (BwD BC) has a statutory responsibility to make provision for looked after children and young people leaving care from 16 year to 18 year olds. The standards set out in this Specification are a minimum requirement. The Provider's service must reflect and promote the following values, which place Young People at the centre of Service provision. Supported and Independent Living Services for 16 years and over is not registered under the Care Standards Act 2000 and is therefore not inspected by Ofsted.
• Choice of lifestyle, occupation, and the best way to maintain independence, including the opportunity to select independently from a range of options.
• Respect for intrinsic worth, dignity and individuality of the person and her/his racial and ethnic identity and cultural heritage.
• Participation and integration in society, and in the formulation of plans and decisions affecting the individual's life.
• Knowledge about conditions and prospects, options and opportunities, and ways of improving individual circumstances.
