Description

Birmingham Adult Education Service at Birmingham City Council (BAES) requires a supplier for the provision of the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training to a cohort of approximately 60 tutors.
BAES is looking to ensure that their entire teaching workforce is qualified to a Level 5 and is therefore seeking to commission an education or training provider with a Good or Outstanding Ofsted rating capable of offering the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training to tutors who don't currently hold a Level 5 qualification.

Providers submitting a tender should be able to deliver the qualification at the Brasshouse Language Centre, Library of Birmingham Floor 1 on a Friday pm, Friday twilight and possibly Saturday morning.

This contract will be for a period of 2 years commencing 21 January 2019 until 18 December 2020.

The delivery of the Diploma should be practice-based, underpinned by the teaching theory that makes best use of the tutors' experience in the classroom. The programme should include tutorials, an introductory session and enrichment activities for tutors taking part in the course.

The successful training provider will be able to accredit prior learning and tailor a fast-track programme of one year for eligible individuals.

All providers must provide details of:
• Course structure, and number of hours per week delivered
• Materials and support provided to participants, including details of access to online materials
• Number of observations during the programme. It is expected that all observations will be carried out by the provider, and one joint observation with a member of the BAES observation team
• Expected class sizes
• Awarding Organisation accrediting the programme and timescales for provision of certificates after completion of the programme
• Quality Assurance processes in place, including complaints procedures
• Safeguarding Policy
• Their ability to run a course on a Friday afternoon/twilight and/or Saturday morning at Brasshouse Languages, Library of Birmingham. This is highly desirable.
• Whether they are able to offer English and Maths Functional Skills qualifications starting in January to participants who do not hold these. This is desirable.
• The DET Programmes running on their own premises starting on January 2019 which BAES participants could join if they are unable to attend the sessions run on BAES premises. This is desirable.
• Whether the provider can offer English and Maths Functional Skills qualifications starting in January to participants who do not hold these. This is desirable.
Learner Services available to support the learner, e.g. support with enrolment and application for learner loans, tutorials, CEIAG, support for learners with disabilities and learning difficulties.
• Enrichment activities and added value offered by the provider.
