Description
Project background
The Energy Systems Catapult (ESC), together with partners in India, including the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), has created the Innovating for Transport and Energy Systems (ITES) initiative.
ITES is a bilateral collaboration to address key challenges around the decarbonisation of transport by carrying out joint research into specific sustainable transport issues and enabling the piloting, support and scale up of new sustainable solutions. It:
• engages with and supports industry in developing solutions for hard to decarbonise parts of the transport system collaboratively or linking them to innovators
• considers the whole systems aspects around transport challenges, from consumer acceptance to supporting infrastructure and impact on the energy generation system
• looks to link leading Indian and UK research organisations, builds on success of the Innovating for Clean Air (IfCA) programme and provides a springboard for UK and Indian innovators/start-ups to trial their solutions in a low-risk environment
• offers innovators access to technical skills and expertise to support them bringing their products to market, as well as potentially facilities, in the longer-term
• looks to attract public, private and third sector partners and sponsors to ensure activities are market-led and solving practical problems and to decrease the need for UK government funding in the long-term
• provides a long-term, established base for UK - India partnerships and programmes in the Net Zero space, with the potential to expand to other sectors over time
• offers a "soft-landing" for UK SMEs interested in the Indian market, and vice versa, linking them to opportunities, collaborators and potential investment
• offers links to conduct knowledge exchange between UK and Indian organisations
The Export Roadmap is a document created by ESC to provide a clear and structured approach and guidelines for UK innovators looking to investigate and prepare for export opportunities in a target market. The goal is to provide a tool that informs innovators and outlines logical, structured steps they could take to explore and be successful with export to India. It includes sections such as:
• Section 1: assessing export readiness
• Section 2: identifying target market(s)
• Section 3: understanding target markets
The following sections are India specific:
• Section 4: preparing for opportunities
• Section 5: long-term planning
• Section 6: market engagement
• Section 7: delivering opportunities in target markets
It currently takes the form of a PPT / presentation make that can be worked through by an innovator independently or in a guided fashion. It includes approx. 70 slides, approximately 15 of which are example templates.
