Description

The Police and Crime Commissioner for Sussex (Sussex PCC), on behalf of Sussex Safer Roads Partnership (SSRP), is tendering for the supply and delivery of Theatre in Education services. SSRP is a collective that uses combined expertise to make the roads safer and reduce collisions. The partnership brings together teams from Brighton and Hove City Council, East Sussex County Council, East Sussex Fire and Rescue, West Sussex County Council including West Sussex Fire and Rescue and Sussex Police. Together, our aim is to "create a safer environment for all road users, significantly reduce life-changing injuries and eliminate fatalities."
Using the wealth of knowledge and experience within the partnership, we aim to provide advice and support to all road users across Sussex. We refine and develop strategies to promote road safety and to encourage everyone to consider how they use the roads and how everyone can become safer. Recommendations and guidance are offered to urge everyone to share the roads and to foster an attitude of safety for all on our roads.
There are still too many collisions in Sussex and some of these can be avoided. Through a range of campaigns and initiatives, we intend to raise awareness of: laws, key messages, preventative measures, information and guidance to create safer roads for all.
Theatre in Education (TiE) is a process which includes the interaction of theatre/drama practices to help aid the education process. TiE is used to encourage effective learning in school. It calls for careful consideration of the audience's age and requirements to engage them and get the message(s) across. The objective of TiE is to provide the opportunity to explore risk, responsibility and consequences in relation to road safety, focusing on behaviour and attitudes of the students. To enable them to make informed decisions, manage their personal safety and understand how their behaviour affects those around them.
