Description
The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) has secured £340,000 from the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) to reduce roadside concentrations of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) across the West Midlands, with a focus to improve air quality in areas not identified in the Air Quality Plan for Nitrogen Dioxide in UK (2017).
The project will deliver a reduction in nitrogen dioxide (NO2) emissions from at least 20 buses with local bus operators operating local bus services. The primary objectives of the project using the funding are:
- To reduce roadside concentrations of NO2 from buses, in those areas where the oldest/lowest Euro emission buses are operating
- To promote a shift to cleaner buses and using Accredited Technologies
- To support our wider long-term commitments on clean growth.
We are therefore seeking expressions of interest from local bus operators to participate in the programme and access the fund by the closing date of 1200 noon on 13th July 2020.
In order to express your interest in this project please do so through BravoSolution, the WMCA's e-tendering portal (https://wmca.bravosolution.co.uk). The pqq reference is pqq_120.
Please see the Qualification Envelope which outlines the details you need to provide to form your Expression of Interest and the attachment included gives further details of the project.
If you have any clarification questions please forward them to us, via BravoSolution, by the closing date of 1200 noon on 8th July 2020.
The WMCA may request further information or clarifications on the Expressions of Interest submitted and is aiming to notify the successful operator/s by 31st July 2020.
The WMCA will protect the wider project deliverables and funding through a grant agreement the operator will be required to sign.
Successful operators will be expected to deliver their programme by 31st March 2021.
