Description

The notice refers to services to be provided to University College London as follows:
Main Contractor services for a new research facility (PEARL) located on a Brownfield site.
The research proposed for PEARL focuses on accessibility and mobility in its broadest sense and in life-size, real world environments; from navigating kerbs in wheelchairs; to effects of light manipulation on streetscape navigation; to real-size train design.
The works will consist of the erection of a new-build bespoke facility, on a brown field site. The overall size of the scheme is c.101m x 40m and has the following requirements:
- The space needed for the experiments is noted at its longest, as 93m and at its widest, 39m, on a single floor;
- The space need is for a minimum total of 2,500m² Storage space;
- The requirement for this space is that it is column-free, allowing complete flexibility of platform configuration;
- The minimum ceiling height is a 10m clear height to underside of structure or acoustic lining;
- C.500 person retractable seating;
- House sufficient changing, fitting, meeting rooms to allow PEARL participants accessible access to these facilities when required by experimental protocols.
