Description

Birmingham City Council Public Health has been allocated funding towards Tier 2 Adult Weight Management Services to tackle obesity and promote healthy weight. The Public Division at Birmingham City Council is intending to deliver services to its diverse population to ensure as many residents as possible who are affected by being overweight have the opportunity to access services designed to assist them in reducing their BMI and therefore the subsequent risk to their health.

The Council requires a supplier for the marketing of Weight Management Tier 2 service specifically designed to meet the needs of those residents living within the city. It is envisaged that these will be promoted under one umbrella with a weight loss App (already awarded) at the centre.

We have tenders out for services to provide Tier 2 weight management for ethnic minority communities, physically impaired, learning disabilities, visually impaired, adults and sports focused services.

We envisage a marketing campaign which will launch all the services simultaneously, and involve marketing through Social media, radio campaign, social influencers, GPs and Pharmacies and more traditional methods.

Providers must be able to:
o Liaise with service providers awarded contracts to provide Tier 2 weight management services to Birmingham residents
o Have a clear understanding of the services to be provided and be able to communicate that to Birmingham residents, together with how residents access the services.
o Have a clear marketing strategy and the ability to use promotional opportunities successfully.
o Have a clear understanding of the diversity of the city and the languages /cultures/religions and ensure that promotional work is not purely delivered in English.
o To deliver marketing in key languages as well as easy read, whilst being aware of languages / culture and religious diversity
o To offer links into other existing service provisions commissioned by Birmingham City Council Public Health around lifestyle changes, such as BeActive, Smoking Cessation Services, Health Checks, etc.

The Public Health Division will discuss the exact timescales once tenders are evaluated. We anticipate that the programme will end by no later than 30th June 2022.
