Description
The strategic aims which the council hopes to achieve are: 1) A comprehensive assessment of the potential opportunities and options for establishing a district heating scheme in connection with major regeneration schemes within the borough. Explore the full range of potential options for developing a decentralised energy network in Merton. Examine the different options for network development. 2) To gain a detailed understanding of the technical, financial and sustainability issues around potential district heating options. This work will help by providing the council with the information it needs to identify potential opportunities for delivering a decentralised energy network in the borough and assess the technical feasibility of decentralised energy networks in relation to regeneration projects within the borough. This work will be delivered in three stages set out in 2 phases: Phase 1: refresh of borough mapping and a review of the councils CHP opportunity areas and Energy Masterplanning in order to identify the full range for potential district heating options in relation to major regeneration projects around the High Path Estate and Morden Town Centre . Phase 2 - Part 1:High level feasibility and options appraisals for the opportunity areas around two regeneration projects Phase 2 - Part 2: Detailed feasibility studies and financial modelling for the preferred options in order to support the delivery of the Energy Masterplans.
