Description

Commissioners within NHS Brighton and Hove CCG are commissioning a Community Vasectomy Service under a single provider contract.

The proposed service would be commissioned to provide GPs with a community vasectomy service in Brighton and Hove. This service will offer patients and partners with advice, counselling and support prior to the procedure. It is proposed that this service is commissioned to include extended hours and weekend clinics. This service will deliver a safe, high quality service provided in a community setting with a choice of date and time of appointments, excellent outcomes and an improved patient experience.

Key Aims and Objectives
 To provide high quality local community vasectomy services within the CCG, for patients aged 18 and over, resident, or registered with a GP, in the CCG area
 To provide services that comply with accepted best practice, relevant guidelines in clinical practice and robust governance arrangements.
 To provide a complete holistic patient focused care package; including pre and post-operative care, information, advice and counselling
 To ensure consistent and continuous care between health professionals, and effective and efficient communication.
 To improve access and convenience for patients

The current service currently provides for circa 230 procedures per annum with an approximate annual value of £80k.
Payment will be activity based, further details are available in the service specification.

It is anticipated that the service would be offered for tender under a standard NHS contract (short form version) for a period of 3 years commencing on the 1st November 2017 with option to extend for a maximum of a further two years.
