Description
As a part of a planned sourcing activity for the provision of agar plate reading software and equipment, Public Health England (PHE) is organising a Supplier Day on the 13th June 2018 at the PHE Colindale site (London, NW9 5EQ).
PHE is considering procuring agar plate reading software and equipment for use in its Colindale bacteriology reference laboratories. The software and equipment, which would consist of a camera, light box and image analysis software, would be used to read agar dilution plates. Agar dilution is a method of determining the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of a bacterial culture by incorporating differing concentrations of antibiotic into agar. Bacterial suspensions are spotted onto these agar plates. Following incubation, the software and reader are able to detect bacterial growth on the surface of the agar and apply colony counting software to reading agar dilution spots.
The current equipment and software (a photo will be provided on request) meets requirements however we are investigating purchasing a more automated solution.
Although this will be a capital purchase, it is intended that any service, support and supply of bespoke consumables (if applicable) will be covered for the lifetime of the equipment or until PHE re-tenders the requirement. Any equipment and services being offered must support International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 15189: 2012 under which PHE is operating.
The current requirement is for the Antimicrobial Resistance and Healthcare Associated Infections (AMRHAI) Reference Unit based in Colindale, London. However, PHE has key sites located throughout the UK and new requirements could be identified during the course of this contract. (Please note that PHE's organisational structure is currently undergoing a transformation and as such new locations may be added or deleted during the course of this contract.)
The Supplier Day is organised with a view to providing PHE with insights which will inform the specifications and determine if we will have sufficient budget available to allow for the current system to be replaced. The Supplier Day will also be used to alert the market to the possible upcoming opportunity, provide the provisional project timescales, tender process and desired outcomes.
If you are interested in attending the Supplier Day, please can you contact kallie.rivers@phe.gov.uk for further information. Time slots for presentation and question and answer sessions will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.
