Description

The Authority is conducting an Open Procedure to look for a Contractor or Contractors to deliver an Animal Health and Welfare Project to improve farm productivity in England. This is set out in two distinct lots of work:

• Lot 1 Bovine Viral Diarrhoea (BVD) - to achieve a reduction in the level of Bovine Viral Diarrhoea (BVD) in cattle. The duration of this contract will be for 3 years plus 6 months reporting, a total of 3½ years.

The Contractor(s) will be required to work with qualified vets to ensure that a consistent disease control message is relayed to all participants. The Contractor(s) will hold initial training meetings to establish clusters of livestock keepers. Each cluster will be led by a vet who will provide advice to farmers in the form of an advice report written following an on farm advice visit.

For BVD they will inform the farmer of the level of testing required to establish the disease status of the herd. The farmer will fund the disease test but the Contractor will be responsible for collating the results and arranging for the vet to carry out a follow up visit. The Contractor will ensure that a follow up meeting is held for each of the clusters after its members have received the results of the disease test and follow up advice report which is informed by any disease test results.
