Description

NHS England - North (Yorkshire and the Humber), are inviting expressions of interest for an Urgent Dental Care Service (Personal Dental Service Agreement). The service will provide the full range of urgent dental care services required for:

• All people resident in Sheffield area or patients who regularly access dental services from a general dental practice in Sheffield; and
• People who are temporarily resident in Sheffield who require immediate emergency treatment; for example, visitors, traveller families, students etc. within Sheffield.

The provider must provide a service for adults and children of all ages, which will include provision for people with additional special care needs.

The service must be provided 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Appointment times will be agreed with NHS England at the point of Contract Award.

The total contracted number of appointment slots for 1.7.2016 to 30.6.2017 is 8012. Each Appointment is 15 minutes in duration.

The overall aim is to provide a high quality, value for money, patient centred urgent dental service to the population of Sheffield.

There is no pre-determined site for this service. Premises should be in close proximity to Sheffield City Centre with excellent public transport links and nearby parking facilities.

It is envisaged that tender documentation will be issued by the end of April 2016, with an anticipated service commencement date of 1st July 2016.

The contract will be offered for a potential contract term of between 3 - 12 months, at which point the service will be reviewed as part of a Yorkshire and Humber wide project.

Under the Public Services (Social Value) Act 2012 the contracting authorities must consider:

• How what is proposed to be procured might improve the economic, social and environmental well-being of the relevant area ("area" is the geographic area for which the procurement is taking place); and
• How, in conducting the process of procurement, it might act with a view to securing the improvement.

North of England Commissioning Support (NECS) is running this expression of interest process for and on behalf of NHS England - North (Yorkshire and Humber), the contracting authority.
