Description

1. Background

The University for the Creative Arts (UCA) has a requirement to carry out thorough examination and testing of the condition and engineering performance of its Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) and Associated systems. This legal responsibility is embodied in Health & Safety at Work etc Act 1974, Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (as amended) etc.

The competition will be for the annual thorough examination and testing of Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) and Associated systems as described below.

The aim of this correspondence is to seek expression of interests from your company.

2. Scope of Work

The LEV systems to be examined and tested are described below:

• emission generators, e.g. machines for turning, grinding and drilling that emit dust/fumes/mist etc and metalworking fluid mist;
• emission controllers, such as LEV hoods, moveable and fixed extraction equipment;
• general equipment associated with a need for dust/fume/mist etc control where an activity may create a contaminant cloud, such as bag weighing at a bag filling station etc.

There are about 110 LEV systems spread over the University buildings in Kent and Surrey. Details will be provided in the tender brief to enable interested suppliers understand the scope and extent of the services.

The plants are to be examined and tested in accordance with the requirement of COSHH regulations, HSG 258 and associated regulations.

3. Expression of Interest

Upon consideration of UCA's requirements for the work as described briefly above, you are requested to indicate your interest to participate in the tender exercise. If your company is interested, please provide a short summary (1 page) your experience in offering this service stating your corporate accreditations and contact details. This will enable us to pre-assess the quality and number of suppliers who would be able to participate in the tender.

Expressions of Interest are to be submitted to UCA electronically via email to procurement@ucreative.ac.uk no later than 1530hrs on 6th April 2018. Suppliers that have expressed an interest may be contacted for further information and will be alerted when the tender is released.

You will receive an acknowledgement of receipt of your Expression of Interest. Such acknowledgement may not be received until approximately 24 hours following the closing date and time.

UCA is not bound to proceed with the tender if there are insufficient expressions of interest from shortlisted suppliers.
