Description

Public Health England (PHE) is seeking to procure a high-resolution imager/analyser for use in microtiter plate-based spot-counting bioassays.

The proposed system must have:

- specific capability of accurately counting viral plaques on mammalian cell monolayers in immunostained neutralisation assays, using both enzymatic and fluorescent detection
- be able to accurately and reproducibly count the number of viral plaques per well
- the capability of morphometric analysis allowing the measurement of plaque size and determining the percentage well area covered by plaques
- the ability to accommodate 384 well plates
- standard and high-resolution imaging capabilities for single and dual colour enzymatic analysis using visible light, ideally with automated colour compensation, and single, dual and triple colour fluorescence detection
- the ability to perform high throughput cytotoxicity assays will also be an advantage
- a software that allows for background artefacts (for example debris, hairs and fibres) to be eliminated from the count and have extensive quality control features
- capability of assigning/printing bar codes for plate tracking and data management purposes is also an advantage.
