Description

Due to a number of street lighting columns in the Gloucestershire County Council (GCC) area reaching the end of their practical life, GCC are undertaking a renewal scheme to replace some of those columns.\r
\r
This scheme will consist of the removal and replacement of approximately 55 units comprising of 5m, 5m folddown, 6m and 6m folddown columns. The existing lanterns, Telensa Nodes, internal cabling, and double pole isolators on those columns are to be re-used as they are all deemed suitable for re-installation.\r
\r
Also all attachments (signplates, school Wig Wags etc) are to be transferred from the old column on to the new replacement column.\r
\r
It is essential that the Contractor undertakes an actual site survey of all the units to be replaced, to ensure they are fully aware of environment in which they will be working (location, obstructions on the highway/Footpaths, parked cars etc) as any claims for issues that would have been observed on a site survey, may not be considered.\r
\r
GCC uses a Telensa Central Management System to monitor its street lighting assets. So, it is vital that any lantern that is removed, shall only be re-installed on the replacement column for that lantern and in the position marked on site.\r
Whilst undertaking the above works, the Contractor shall create a detailed inventory for all the lanterns and Isolators etc it removes. The inventory shall identify the location, any asset numbers and the condition of the lanterns etc. If the contractor has any concerns on the condition of the equipment to be re-installed, it shall take photographs and notify GCC within 24 hours of its concerns.\r
