Description

The Office of Manpower Economics will shortly be approaching the market for the following Services:

Background

1. The Office of Manpower Economics (OME), on behalf of the AFPRB, is looking for role and remuneration benchmarking for Medical Officers and Dental Officers (MODOs) in the armed forces. The Armed Forces Pay Review Body (AFPRB) provides independent advice to the Prime Minister and the Secretary of State for Defence on the remuneration and charges for Armed Forces' personnel.

Scope of the work

It is expected that the project will:

i. Undertake an evidence review of previous pay comparison studies
ii. Review the roles and responsibilities of Armed Forces medical and dental officers.
iii. Research the current remuneration structure for medical and dental officers.
iv. Analyse the long-term staffing levels of both medical and dental officers compared to the workforce requirement
v. Investigate potential benchmark roles and career pathways from the civilian sector.
vi. Source, collate and review relevant civilian earnings and salary data for the benchmark roles and draw comparisons between military and civilian earnings.

Outputs

Outputs from the project would include:

i. An early overview of the programme of work, including a schedule of interviews and discussion, the sources to be covered in the literature review.
ii. A draft final report of key findings
iii. A final report, following comments from OME, MOD, BMA and BDA. The final report will be published on the OME website.
iv. Presentations to AFPRB, MOD staff, and representative groups outlining the main findings,
