Description

The ARMY EOD&S, Exploitation and Countermeasures Project Team, part of the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence (the Authority) intends to award a contract to Trimax Technologies Ltd (Trimax) for the supply of a bespoke high accuracy aiming system (the System) along with associated training. The contract will be for 7 years and has an estimated value of £409,836.62 (Ex VAT).

The System is only used by UK Armed Forces and is bespoke to the UK MOD. It is not In-Service with any other NATO Country. The System is a precision manufactured aiming head that secures an energetic device.
The initial requirement is for 16 high accuracy aiming kits and 10 high accuracy aiming heads with an option to purchase additional units through the contract term.
It is considered that this contract can placed with Trimax using the negotiated procedure without prior publication of a contract notice pursuant to Regulation 16(1)(a)(ii) of the UK Defence and Security Public Contracts Regulations 2011 for technical reasons.

The System is to be integrated into and use as part of a wider system which will secure an energetic. The System provided by Trimax is the only aiming system that has been tested and approved for safe use with this capability by MoD Assurance. As such, Trimax is the only company which has the expertise and ability to fulfil this requirement in the time scale required to ensure that there is no capability gap which could affect the safe functioning of the Armed Forces.
In addition, this System is already used by other military users within the UK MOD and introducing different equipment into a system to perform the task delivered by this high accuracy aiming system would result in an unacceptable safety and operational risk to the user of the equipment due to the operation of a mixed fleet of equipment.
