Description

This procurement is for an independent testing of i-VMS devices to confirm whether they meet the technical requirements of the Marine Management Organisation (MMO).

I-VMS stands for Inshore Vessel Monitoring System, these are positional monitoring devices which have been designed for fishing vessels in line with the MMOs I-VMS specification of requirements, to cater for vessels under 12ms which currently do not operate a VMS device. I-VMS Suppliers have submitted location transmission devices to be fixed to fishing vessels that have been assessed under a product Type Approval process.

I-VMS is a vessel monitoring device that records GNSS positional information of the device's location (including additional information such as date, time, speed, course, and device status) and transmits the data via GMS/GPRS services in real time and at a high frequency rate. The reports are subsequently delivered in real-time to the relevant Marine Management Organisation (MMO) and Inshore Fisheries Conservation Authorities (IFCA) officers in order to monitor types of fishing activities within English waters.

The intention of this tender is to provide additional assurances to the MMO and fishing industry that the evaluated devices are in line with the I-VMS specification of requirements and in line with the supplier device statements presented to the MMO.

This procurement is for the testing of 4 devices.
