Description

The Government's election manifesto contained a commitment to support apprentices. It is currently implementing reforms to improve the quality of apprenticeships for all, and meet a commitment to deliver 3 million apprentice starts in England by 2020. The Government does not want the costs of travel to deter young people, and so is minded to provide discounted travel on rail and bus. This research project is looking at bus concessions only. Local authorities already offer some enhancements on the English National Concessionary Travel Scheme (ENCTS), but we want to review these as well as looking further at the user needs that apprentices have of their bus networks. The output of this research will be used to influence policy and Ministerial submissions within the Department for Transport, but also the Department for Work and Pensions and Department for Education.
