Description

EKFB JV is seeking to appoint numerous Instrumentation and Monitoring Subcontractors on a framework basis to supply, install and maintain the specified instrumentation for the period required. The purpose of I&M is to support pre-construction and construction phases of approx. 90 assets including cuttings, embankments, viaducts and green tunnels across the 80km trace and to manage the geotechnical risk associated with the soil-structure interaction. There is also an opportunity for the monitoring of additional assets within the mentioned main assets including overbridges/underbridges and retaining walls. The scope will include drilling of boreholes and installation of three main type of sensors: Piezometers, Inclinometers and Extensometers. The Subcontractors will be required to combine manual and automatic solutions, hence dataloggers will also to be installed within the boreholes to remotely record readings at agreed specified intervals. The planned start of the construction phase is 1st June 2021 and will last over 4 years period.
Following receipt of the questionnaire, we will create a short list by assessing capabilities, experience, availability of each Subcontractor. This stage will be followed by a competitive tender.
EKFB are a joint venture between EIFFAGE, KIER, FERROVIAL and BAM who have been awarded the main works civils contracts for lots C2 and C3 of HS2. This consists of approximately 80km of earthworks, bridges, culverts, tunnels and other ancillary works from Great Missenden in the South to Southam in the North.
