Description
The City Learning Quarter (CLQ) Programme will create a central learning location in the centre of the City of Wolverhampton, with essential works being carried out to the existing College (City of Wolverhampton College's Metro One building), Library and Adult Education Centre which include external works, minor demolitions, remodelling, and refurbishment, as well as new build extensions to the Metro One College building. The City Learning Quarter has received full planning consent (19/00931/FUL) and the conditions sets out a need for Archaeological investigations. Initial investigations have been completed (condition 3) and are recorded in Worcester Archaeology's Initial report dated February 2020. In order to comply and close out the requirements associated with these conditions 4 and 5, this enabling project is being initiated and essentially is intended to investigate and remove all archaeological material in two areas prior to construction of the main project. Essentially the works are to excavate the areas to defined levels, record any findings, remove the Archaeological material and backfill the excavated areas. The material is to be removed, retained where required, and deposited with an appropriate museum or similar. The proposed terms and conditions for this project are the JCT Minor Works Contract 2016, with Amendments as appropriate. It is assumed that any supplier returning a tender for this requirement will have a copy and is familiar with these terms and conditions and will have previous experience of executing contracts on this basis.
