Description
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council (the 'Council') is seeking to bring together an experienced and appropriately qualified Architect-led design team with outstanding design and detailing skills to take forward the development of a 60 bed care home and learning disability day care centre on the site currently occupied by the Priory School in Burr Hill Chase in Southend-on-Sea.
Southend-on-Sea Borough Council is a Unitary Authority serving a population of approx. 174,000 residents. The Council is located approximately 40 miles east of London, situated north of the River Thames.
A feasibility study has been undertaken to investigate proposals to provide modern Learning Disability Day Care and dementia friendly Residential Care facilities for the residents of Southend-on-Sea to replace the ageing current facilities. Initial feasibility work included the provision of a number of extra care residential units. This element is not included in the final scheme.
The Council's vision is to deliver good quality new facilities including:
- A new 60 bedroom dementia friendly residential care home
- A new Learning Disability Day Care Centre Facility with capacity for 45 clients
