Description
The EMLeaders Programme was developed in response to Emergency Department [ED] workforce challenges caused by low workforce retention in Emergency Medicine [EM] and increasing levels of attrition within EM training. The central aim of the project is to develop the skills of postgraduate EM trainees by producing an innovative programme in clinical leadership which would build personal wellbeing, reduce attrition and help ensure a successful career pathway in a very intense and challenging healthcare environment. This programme will provide dedicated and tailored leadership and personal development to all EM trainees within England, as they progress through ST1 - ST6.
Health Education England [HEE] require a leadership consultant to design learning materials for 9 training modules of Emergency Medicine leadership, which will be piloted across England between November/ December 2019. The pilot will be delivered by regional faculties, who are EM Consultants appointed to roles within the Schools of Emergency Medicine to help deliver this programme. Feedback from these sessions will be utilised to refine the content within the modules as part of a robust post-pilot evaluation.
A key requirement of the training design will be collaboration and engagement from the outset between the procured supplier and key groups involved in project delivery including the EMLeaders National Faculty, the programme steering group and the joint HEE-Royal College of Emergency Medicine and NHS England project team.
