Description

HEE is seeking to engage education providers to develop a QIS which will align with the National Core Curriculum for Perioperative Nursing (Perioperative Care Collaborative (PCC) 2017). There are also other resources available that could support the development of the modules for example:
AfPP (Association for Perioperative Practitioners)
Scottish Anaesthetic Competencies
Centre for Perioperative Care (CPOC)
Patient Safety National Curriculum

The National Core Curriculum for Perioperative Nursing 2017 summarises the key skills required for a Perioperative Care Nurse

The scope of this contract is for nurses and AHPs, however the module created could be reviewed and agreed to be offered to nursing associates who are wanting to pursue a career in Perioperative Care. Agreement of changing the scope of the contract will be done with HEE as part of standard contracting processes.

The requirements are for a QIS Perioperative Care 60-credit programme (2 x 30 credit modules) with associated clinical competencies to be created to include the content outlined in Table 3 to develop a consistent national offer. The tender will be for a pilot of 18-20 candidates to undertake the QIS.
