Description

Broadacres Housing Association Ltd provides a wide range of accommodation including general needs, sheltered and supported housing and we have around 6,000 properties. Our area of operation covers the whole of North Yorkshire and we also have properties in Darlington and beyond. We provide support services to vulnerable members of the community including those with mental health issues, learning and physical disabilities, and the homeless, elderly and provide a refuge for women suffering domestic abuse.
The principal activity of the association is to provide well managed and maintained homes for those in housing need including the elderly, the infirm, people with special needs and those that are financially unable to secure a home in the private market. The association has four subsidiaries: Broadacres Services Limited, which provides development services, The Richmond and Hambleton Furniture Store, a charity that recycles donated furniture for resale, Mulberry Homes Yorkshire Limited a development company that delivers homes for private sale and Market Gate Residential Management Company Limited which provides a property management service to the schemes at Blossomgate and Marshall Way, Ripon. Together these companies make up the Broadacres Group. Other services operated by the company are Hambleton Lifeline, an emergency call service for elderly and vulnerable customers both tenants' and other members of the community, a Home Improvement Agency providing, repairs and adaptations for homeowners together with a cleaning service.
The association is registered under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014. It is also registered with The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) registration no LH4014. The association has charitable rules registered with HM Revenue and Customs. It is managed by a voluntary Board of Management comprising 10 non- executive board members including 2 tenant members and 2 co-opted members who bring a range of experience and expertise to the Board.
The Occupational Health (OH) service is a business function and a tool to reduce absence and assist people back into the workplace, rather than a health and support service for Broadacres Employees. It also provides services for Broadacres to meet it legislative responsibilities with regard to undertaking health surveillance and pre-employment medicals for employees as well as offering complimentary services outside of the contractual requirements.
