Description

The ONS is looking to identify and engage with industry partners to help bring third party data and/or expertise to access better and more relevant data sources. This will help improve the quality and usefulness of official statistics about our population, society and economy that decision makers, businesses and citizens so urgently need.
ONS is seeking to develop partnerships with organisations that hold information about student halls within England and Wales. For the first 12 months, these partnerships would be exploratory in nature with a focus on understanding data quality. This initial work could then form the basis for developing longer term partnerships.
ONS has been exploring the potential of using student halls data. The data will support the delivery of the 2021 Census for England and Wales and further develop the organisation's Address Index. The aim is to improve our student accommodation coverage and effectively plan our field operations. The data will need to include the main addresses of all managed accommodation provided solely for students during term time (university nominated halls of residence, private halls of residence, and part-nominated halls of residence) and attribute data, such as:
o Unit addresses
o Total student capacity
o A description of the unit
