Description

Tenderers are invited to submit a quotation for the CAZ Early Measures - Traffic Signal Upgrade Consultancy work.

Birmingham City Council has initiated a programme of work which will implement air quality improvements in and around the City Centre. This programme is known as 'Brum Breathes', the overarching aim is to influence those travelling into, through and around the City Centre to use alternative modes of transport, having a positive impact on the city's air quality; ultimately achieving the vision of reducing traffic and increasing pedestrianised areas; ultimately achieving the vision of reducing traffic and increasing pedestrianised areas.

The Traffic Signal Upgrades project proposes to make improvements to five network junctions by implementing new control strategies at five key intersections within the City Core which are closely related to key air quality locations.

The scope of work is therefore to use the information from the assessment report to produce an outline Delivery Plan and report on necessary amendments to improve the efficiency of the junctions and a cost plan. The report should also consider the following:

• Evaluation and use of Bluetooth JT monitoring.
• Assessment of initial communications requirements i.e 3G/4G;IDT WiFi; Lorawan.
• Evaluation of RTEM requirements for initial baseline data collection.
• Introduction of enhanced traffic detection on the Ring Road, A38 (in the city centre) and B4114.
• Developing cost estimates for the above and a indicative Delivery Plan.
• Comments concerning operational requirements with direct supply chain, Amey PFI and the Council's Operation Control Room
