Description

***Please view oppounity available via The Chest https://www.the-chest.org.uk/ *** The County Council is responsible for around 1,800 highway bridges, 1,000 footbridges, over 500 retaining walls and over 900 culverts. Many of these structures are founded below water level and are prone to erosion and scour damage. This was most significantly demonstrated during the storm Desmond floods when a number of bridges were destroyed or needed to be closed due to the severe action of the flood waters.
As part of its capital works programme the Council undertakes routine underwater inspections of a proportion of its structures assets each year to identify and repair any defects that if left unattended could result in structural collapse and risk to the public.
This term contract is for underwater inspection, underwater repairs and debris recovery for bridges and structures across Cumbria. The contract will comprise annual routine inspection and repairs works with additional reactive works commissioned through task orders.
The agreement will be based on the NEC3 term contract amended in accordance with the Highway Maintenance Efficiency Programme guidance.
