Description

EDF Energy are currently constructing a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point. The Development Consent Order (DCO) and associated Licences and Permits set out EDF Energy's environmental monitoring requirements with respect to the construction and operation of the new power station. EDF has contracted Cefas to assist in ensuring that these requirements are met by devising and delivering appropriate monitoring studies.

Condition PO11 of the Permit requires EDF Energy to develop an Environmental Monitoring Plan in relation to water discharge. Impingement of fish and invertebrates is one of the impacts related to the abstraction of cooling water; therefore, an impingement monitoring plan is required to fulfil part of the pre-operational permit condition. Cefas are seeking a suitable contractors to provide a suitable impingement sampling service. Full details available at http://www.delta-esourcing.com/9NMF394P25
