Description
The London Borough of Barnet is seeking to support Burnt Oak town centre to become a more thriving, welcoming, safer, healthier, and distinctive place where people can work, live and visit. To achieve this vision, the Council will develop a project that aim is to improve and develop the public realm and to create spaces for people to spend time and feel safe. The project should generate a unique and accessible public realm that enhances and celebrates Burnt Oak's unique identity. The main objectives to achieve this are:
Design and deliver public realm improvements to;
1. Improve the pedestrian and dwell experience
2. Develop a Public Realm Design Framework for the wider Burnt Oak Town Centre
3. Develop a brand and identity in collaboration with the existing creative placemaking consultancy
Alongside these workstreams, the Council expects the consultancy to develop a successful engagement programme to enable Burnt Oak's diverse community to be actively involved in co-designing these projects.
The Council is using the RIBA plan of work to programme the delivery of this project. The time frame for the project is from May 2022 to May 2025 plus a six-month ratification/evaluation period. The Council's anticipated construction budget to deliver the public realm improvements is £2,300,000.00 allocated for the project for all construction costs (incl. of 15% contingency).
