Description

Norfolk County Council wishes to award a contract to a company specialising in sustainable tourism marketing, promotion and design in tourism fairs and exhibitions.

The main aims of the project are based around 'Protect and Prosper': ensuring that the beautiful natural environment which makes the Wash and North Norfolk coast special continues to be protected, whilst also enabling economic opportunities and prosperity to the local people and businesses who have made the area their home. When both business and nature benefit from one another this is referred to as a Nature Business Benefit Cycle (NBBC).

Through the project partnership, we have available sustainable tourism trends, that fit with themes we are working to promote as sustainable tourism packages for Norfolk. These themes are Cycling, Walking and Hiking, Food tourism, Fishing, Nature Experiences, Bird Watching, Heritage and Cold-Water Tourism.

PROWAD-LINK is an Interreg North Sea Region project funded by the European Regional Development Fund of which Norfolk County Council is a partner.

The wider project includes the UNESCO Wadden Sea World Heritage site, the UNESCO Geiranger Fjord World Heritage site and the Wash & North Norfolk Coast. The beautiful wild places can be powerful and inspiring brands for innovation and sustainable development. Yet, barriers exist preventing its full use, especially for local SMEs.

In March 2020, PROWAD-LINK partners have 79m2 of exhibition space at the ITB (Internationale Tourismus-Börse) Berlin, the world's leading tourism fair. Approximately 120,000 trade visitors will visit the show over 4 days. The project will be promoted in the hall dedicated to durable and sustainable tourism.
