Description

NHS Croydon Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) wishes to invite suitably qualified and experienced providers to submit tenders for the provision of Intermediate Care Beds Services in Croydon.

The service for intermediate requires the core provision of 12 care beds with the option of purchasing additional beds during peak periods should these be required (up to 6 additional beds, or 18 in total). The intermediate care bed service offers a short term intervention for a typical duration of two weeks (or a maximum of 6 weeks) focusing on rehabilitation with nursing, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy input.

The Contracting Authority is seeking to procure intermediate care bed service which will include 'step up' beds specifically for the purpose of avoiding acute hospital admission where it is appropriate to do so. The service will also offer 'step down' beds when patients are discharged from an acute hospital setting and where the admission is no longer appropriate but the patient is not yet fit enough to return home or to their original care setting.

The contract is expected to be for three years with the flexibility to extend for up to a further two years, at the discretion of the CCG. Service commencement will be from 1st April 2017. Mobilisation may be phased to allow movement of individuals in currently commissioned beds and is expected to commence from the end of February 2017.

The annual contract value will circa £436,800 - £455,520 to deliver a core of 12-bed capacity (block contract), with the ability for this to increase up to £3.4m over 5 years (this maximum value is where the CCG purchases up to 6 additional beds). Full details of the commercial arrangements, including the CCG's upper and lower affordability levels, can be found in the ITT documentation.
