Description

UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) will shortly be embarking on an Open OJEU procurement to establish a framework contract for technical advisory services to the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) which will support the Antarctic Infrastructure Modernisation Programme (AIMP) to delivery of a wide range of projects overseas.

The framework will be intended to cover 7 years with an optional extension of +3.

The estimated framework value is 40 000 000 GBP - 60 000 000 GBP.

Ahead of commencing this procurement, we would like to raise awareness of this project by way of an industry day where we will introduce our plans for the Antarctic Infrastructure Modernisation Programme (AIMP). Our hope is that in engaging with industry experts that we can ensure that this requirement is well placed when it hits the market in the near future.

Antarctica is a very unique environment which presents huge challenges in delivering an ambitious infrastructure programme, amongst which are the environmental conditions themselves, logistical constraints and the need to integrate complex construction works with an ongoing and extensive science programme. The successful Technical Advisor must be able to provide the very wide range of skills expected in a diverse set of engineering and building projects but also the specialist skills required for the polar regions. In addition to capability there needs to be the capacity to support this large programme, which is to be delivered in a relatively short time scale.

Generally the services to be provided for individual projects fall into 1 of 2 categories:

- enabling works/technical services - work stages (WS) 0 to 2: Task Orders for enabling works (WS0 to 2) or bespoke requirements to support specific technical requirements,

- Project Works (WS 3 to 8): this comprises activities for projects where a single preferred option has already been identified and approval has been obtained to progress this option.

The industry day will take place on Thursday 25.7.2019 at 10:30 at the British Antarctic Survey High Cross, Madingley Road, Cambridge, CB3 0ET.

The industry day will run from 10:30 to 13:30 and comprise of a presentation about the British Antarctic Survey (BAS), the environment that these services will cover and then details of the Antarctic Infrastructure Modernisation Programme (AIMP) followed by a Q&A session.

If you are interested in attending this Industry Day please confirm your attendance by emailing FMprocurement@uksbs.co.uk stating your organisation and attendees names. All requests to attend must be received by Friday July 19th. Space will be limited on the industry day and therefore attendance is restricted to 2 individuals per supplier.
