Description

This contract is for the purchase of spare parts for a Kongsberg Multi-beam System.

The deep-water multi-beam echosounder system, Kongsberg EM122, is a key capability fitted as part of the infrastructure of the research ships. Providing high-resolution sea-floor mapping, these data form a key objective for many science expeditions.

The EM122 is also used operationally to support the deployment of scientific instrumentation including but not exclusive to moorings and Remotely Operated Vehicles.

Following an upgrade to the EM122 system on RRS James Cook in 2017, there is now a requirement for spares. This is to enable technicians to perform in-situ repairs.
