Highway Maintenance: Akers Way Carriageway Maintenance 2016-17

Swindon Borough Council invites expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced service providers for the provision of the following work items:

The project for planning / cold milling and replacement of a section of worn-out carriageway in Akers Way, B4587, Swindon. The site is listed below and details are given in Appendix B.

Project Description

Full details relating to the Works are provided in the tender documents.

The work comprises carriageway cold-planing with surface course, and binder course overlay. Cold-planing and carriageway surfacing inlay.

Associated works are ?
· Removal of kerbs, granite sett paved areas, block and slab paving, traffic signal poles and heads, bollards and verge posts, pedestrian guard railings,
· New pavement slab repairs in asphalt concrete
· New kerb renewal works
· New footway surfacing in asphalt concrete, insitu concrete repairs, tactile paving, precast concrete blockwork and paving slabs
· Partial rebuild of gullies/raising of utilities covers
· New gully and connection to existing drain.
· Removal and reconstruction of traffic signal central refuge
· Erection of pedestrian barriers
· Installation of verge bollards
· Road markings
· Traffic Management and maintaining access and safe routes for pedestrians

The works are being carried out within a temporary mandatory road closure. The works will be phased to provide access that will be signposted from one end or the other.

Contract Period

The contract will be initially for a period of 4 months commencing 20th June 2016.

Tender Responses are required to be submitted no later than 29th April 2016, 12.00GMT by hardcopy to Swindon Borough Council only (refer to the Invitation to Tender document)
