Description

The OCPP was announced this year as a key bilateral aid programme under the £500m Blue Planet Fund. Under the OCPP, Cefas will use existing experience of collaboration at an international level, to develop innovative science techniques and analyses with OCPP partner countries that address marine pollution challenges.

Cefas requires the successful Tenderer to organise an outreach campaign in Sri Lanka to raise awareness on the effect of ALDFG and mismanagement of end of life (EOL) fishing gear on the marine environment. The events should be face-to-face seminar, talks or workshops that should target coastal communities relying on fisheries or stakeholders (harbours, vessel crews) related to the fishery industry. The number of different targeted communities/stakeholders should not be less than five and the number of individuals involves not lower than 50. Outreach material (presentations, brochures) are required to be prepared in English, Tamil and Sinhala and will be used during the events. Cefas will provide some initial outreach material that can be used during the events or can be used to produce new material. Where possible and appropriate, these materials (e.g. slides) will be adapted to the target audience. The events should be planned with the aim to cover as many different communities around Sri Lanka as possible. Before starting the events, the materials will have to be cleared by Cefas. In case limitations due to the COVID pandemic will prevent the Tenderer from carrying out the events, a plan B should be conceptualised based on distribution of material (posters, brochures) to target communities, or remote events (online events).

Please be aware that Cefas have concurrently released an opportunity (CEFAS21-118- https://defra.bravosolution.co.uk/go/95899700017DA3F4D851) for a data collection campaign to collect data on ALDFG which compliments this requirement.
