Description

The University of Plymouth would like to hear from the potential contractors in relation to the upcoming tender for the refurbishment and storage of decontamination unit within Devonport Dental School.

Details of future opportunity:
The PDSE facility at Devonport Dental School contains the on-site decontamination unit for all the dental schools across Devon and Cornwall. The proposed works include primary plant and specialist equipment replacement on the second floor of the building including minor building reconfiguration, repairs and maintenance and a new external storage facility.
It is proposed that the existing steam generation plant, RO plant, sterilizers, washer/ disinfectors, LTHW boiler, pressurisation unit, hot water heaters and all associated ancillaries be isolated, decommissioned, disconnected and removed from site.
The existing, steam-fed sterilizers and washer/ disinfectors shall be replaced with 2No. sterilizers complete with integral electric steam generators and 3No. electric washer/ disinfectors, with provision for an additional 1No. of each unit.
The existing plant room shall be partitioned to form a new store room and rationalised plant room which will contain new space heating boilers, pressurisation unit, DHW generation plant, RO plant and a new BMS panel.
Minor reconfiguration of some of the rooms within the decontamination unit are required to create improved equipment receipt and storage facilities.
Removal and delivery of large and heavy items of plant and specialist equipment will necessitate partial removal of an existing louvred facade and replacement with an insulated façade.

It is intended that a traditional form of procurement for the works is adopted on the basis of specifications & drawings. The form of Contract will be a JCT 2016 Without Quantities with Contractor Designed Portion. Start date is intended to be late June with a 5 month build window, however this may be delayed due to the current National Emergency. Early procurement of specialist equipment will be required. Tenders will be assessed on both price & quality with an appointment made in late May.
