Description
Cormac Solutions Ltd are seeking to source suppliers for wildflower turf.
Green Infrastructure for Growth (GI4G) Project will deliver a major investment in publically owned and managed urban green space in the towns of Camborne, Pool, Redruth, Penzance, Saltash, Hayle and Bude, increasing their wildlife value, accessibility and community enjoyment.
GI4Growth will:
· Focus investment on urban green space where the greatest benefits for people and biodiversity can be achieved: parks, amenity areas, closed churchyards, and along roadside verges, including in residential estates, particularly in deprived areas.
· Deliver wildlife-friendly solutions specifically tailored to suit different types of green space: creation of new community wildlife ponds, wildflower meadows, native tree planting, rivers of flowers on roadside verges. Collectively these will result in an increase in biodiversity whilst allowing a change to management regimes after the initial establishment period, reducing long term maintenance costs.
· Provide better access for all: deliver socially-inclusive urban access improvements, excellent information and signage and work towards the creation of urban green corridors linking people to nature.
· Work with local communities: Increased engagement and support for local communities and organisations in local green space management, support for community events and marketing to celebrate local green spaces
· Use best scientific knowledge and techniques to understand the multi-functional opportunities for improvements and benefits of high quality greenspace.
The target for the whole programme is to create 35 hectares of improved open space. The introduction of meadows will feature strongly in a number of the proposed sites.
The GI4G team has researched a range of options for meadow creation including seeding, wildflower turf laying and seeded earth. The delivery mechanism for each site will be assessed based on cost, requirements for instant impact and preparation methodology.
This project has been part-financed by grant funding from the European Regional Development Fund, and Wren, and will be subject to conditions imposed by the funding bodies. Suppliers will be expected to comply with the relevant requirements and any associated regulations such as procurement, publicity, and eligibility criteria.
